INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM AT INDIRAPURAM PUBLIC SCHOOL

The school takes pride in successfully functioning as the only school in Ghaziabad that has been affiliated to the Cambridge International Board conducted by Cambridge Assessment, a department of the University of Cambridge. The school is currently offering Primary and Secondary 1 curriculum. Successfully sustaining and evolving into a unique space for learning, the education system is designed to nurture the learners to meet the new age- challenges. Indirapuram Public School (Cambridge Block) is a day- boarding school from Grade 1 to Grade 8. In our mission to help the society through education, we strive to reinforce and strengthen each child’s ability, intelligence and potential that plays a vital role in building and sustaining a high level of quality learning, self-discipline and self-esteem.


THE CURRICULUM




Cambridge Primary

Cambridge Primary, typically for learners aged 5 to 11 years, gives schools a world-class curriculum to develop learner skills and understanding in English, Mathematics and Science. It enables teachers to assess children's learning as they progress with two optional assessments: Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Cambridge Primary Checkpoint.

The certainties of the children give way to the questions and doubts of young adults, as our students grow and thrive in the atmosphere of independent learning and guided study. A blend of practical experience and experimentation, books, discussions, lectures and new technology allows the students to learn at a rapid pace. Careful assessments linked to Cambridge standards, allow us to ensure that everyone reaches their potential. Regular interaction and reports to parents provide reassurance and maintain the link between home and school. We encourage students to reflect on their own work and believe in themselves. All subjects are taught by specialized teachers, making use of an extensive range of facilities. At this stage children learn through their experience. Technology compliments learning, with every classroom well equipped with projectors to enable teachers to bring learning to life. We take pride in our student’s achievements, and teachers are committed to help each individual succeed. This is embedded in the heart of our community.

Cambridge Secondary- 1

Cambridge Secondary 1 (CS1) is a curriculum for Grade 6 to 8 from Cambridge International Examinations. It is a sophisticated and nuanced methodology to nurture young minds. It is a curriculum for the Contemporary world to produce scholars who are not only informed but also aware of their responsibilities global citizens.

The Pedagogy too caters to a wide variety of skills ranging from compassion to patience and from research to expression. Cambridge Secondary 1 is typically for learners aged 11 to 14 years. It is built on the foundations of Cambridge Primary, although it is not essential to have completed that stage before beginning the Cambridge Secondary 1.

It develops learners’ skills and understanding in English, Mathematics and Science, and provides with a flexible framework which we use to develop a curriculum.



ASSESSMENTS

Primary and Secondary-1 Progression Tests

Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Secondary Progression Test provide valid internal assessment of knowledge, skills and understanding in English, mathematics and science. The tests:
  •  Enable learning to be assessed each year
  •  Provide detailed information about the performance of each learner for stages 3, 4, 5 and 6 (For Primary) and 7, 8 and 9 (For Secondary). We do        not conduct examinations for stages 1 and 2.
  •  Enable teachers to give structured feedback to learners and parents
  •  Enable teachers to compare strengths and weaknesses of individuals and groups


Primary and Secondary-1 Checkpoint Tests


  •  Cambridge Primary Checkpoint tests have been designed to assess learners at the end of Cambridge Primary. They are available in English,             mathematics and science, and give valuable feedback on learners’ strengths and weaknesses before they progress to the next stage of                    education. The tests are marked in Cambridge and provide schools with an external international benchmark for learner performance. Each            learner receives a statement of achievement and a diagnostic feedback report, giving schools detailed information and parents extra trust in          the feedback they receive.

  •  Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint is a diagnostic testing service that helps learners by giving comprehensive feedback on their strengths and       weaknesses in each subject area. Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint tests are offered twice a year and they are usually taken at the end of            Cambridge Secondary 1. The tests are marked in Cambridge and each learner receives a statement of achievement and a diagnostic report.



CO-CURRICULAR ENRICHMENT PROGRAM


Co-curricular Enrichment Program (CCEP) supports the mainstream teaching by involving the creative abilities and problem solving skills which are latent in every child, taking a step ahead in the understanding of ‘learning’ as not just the ability to recall, reproduce and replicate but to create magic around them!

Learners will be involved in activities focusing on their physical fitness like Skating, Table Tennis, Cricket, Chess, etc. which ensures the development of life skills like sportsmanship and relieving of stress.






Besides structured time slots for scholastic and co-scholastic activities, we also follow: -


Circle Time: It is a practice integral to our curriculum, which serves as a great tool for the social and emotional development of children and helps induce in students the key skills of; thinking, observing, concentrating, listening and speaking. At IPS, the Circle Time activities are designed to engage all children in small group conversations and activities, with special emphasis on reflection and sharing.

Meal Time: The school undertakes the responsibility of not only academics but also the physical growth of the learners. It is for this reason that the provision of hygienically prepared food is arranged by the school. We ensure that the children take a proper balanced diet and grow well. At the same time, they are trained to develop healthy habits and learn table manners. The menu is planned well ahead for the smooth functioning in the dining area.

Skill Time: At Indirapuram Public School, Cambridge we give our learners the activities which help them explore, experiment, draw conclusions and apply concepts learnt in other situations. The skills of numeracy and language which help the child in thematic learning are addressed during Skill Time.
